Savoir Adore
Savoir Adore - In The Wooded Forest
Released: 15th August 2010
Label: Cantora Records

Savoir Adore are a mystery. Beginning with their french name which could mean myriad of things (Know love? About Love? Realise Love?) right through to labelling their sound, bringing us directly onto their pretty ambiguous album cover.

Yet Savoir have many layers hiding underneath their nonchalent image. Their latest offering 'In The Wooded Forest' is a surprise in itself, with haunting melodies, catchy lullabies and packed full of dreamy, easy listening.

Their sound can change from up tempo soft rock to dreamy, soft electronica right down to disco and upbeat indie pop, all within the one song. That's the beauty of Savoir Adore, especially within this album, you never know what you're going to stumble upon. Their sound can go from Vampire Weekend to Au Revoir Simone (and everything between) within seconds leaving the listeners' ears in severe delight.

One of the more stand out tracks is latest single 'Bodies' with it's rattling cruscendo, the boy/girl duo really marinades the sound on this number. 'Wonderlake' is also an enticing track, somber and emotional but with a gripping bassline. Mgmt-alike track and album closer 'The Garden' is a fitting send-off to a delightful album.

The album in it's entirety is a mesh of sounds and grips you by the ear, refusing to letting go. It's not the most cohesive or most brilliant of works made but it certainly make a point about itself and makes you want more. What any good album should do.
