Glasgow’s Flood of Red certainly know their way to an anthemic rock track if their latest single’s anything more than a flash in the pan. The production is slick and no-nonsense, the sophisticated and varied riffage recalls the heyday of emo but the empassioned vocals steer thankfully away from the stale pretentious-teenage-heartbreak clichés of the genre, as does a driving chorus of pure, sweaty pop-rock.
The b-side is a slighter affair but enjoyable enough not to do the band any harm. Too early yet to make any predictions as to what lies ahead of the six-piece but this is a promising release that cries out for some major airplay. For more information you can visit: http://www.floodofred.co.uk
