Written with his new song-writing partner Stephen Duffy, Robbie Williams releases another single “Sin, Sin, Sin” on the 22nd May, making it the third song to be lifted from his latest album, “Intensive Care”.
Opening up sounding slightly like “Do They Know It's Christmas?” the track already sounds like a dodgy Pete Waterman pop tune and coupled with the fact that the only money being raised is for the “Robbie Williams Corporation” it just makes you even more sick. The chorus is turgid and clearly written to have another crowd at Knebworth singing back his self obsessed, hard done by lyrics back to him to inflate his ego just that little bit more.
You may love him, you may hate him, you may say he is a petulant little child who feels he is a fragile tortured artist on the verge of genius when infact he is closer to being a George Formby impersonator (maybe I just say that, but you get the point!) but of course, as we all well know, this song is going to sell, go to number one and attract more little kids to the McDonalds of music that is Mr Williams. However, there is nothing new, nothing exciting and a heightened sense of a ten-year formula that has kept him running for so long that seeps through every note. I recommend having a cold shower after listening to this.
